Join us for the second installment of our Family Huddle Series hosted by Licensed Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Strategy Manager at Modern Health Dr. Sharon Adusei. The Family Huddle series are focused on better family mental health.

This installment of the Family Huddle will explore practical tips and strategies for building positive social media habits and help parents and caregivers understand the latest recommendations related to social media and youth mental health. Dr. Adusei will be joined by child mental health experts to discuss this important and timely topic.

Dr. Sharon Adusei is a licensed Child & Adolescent Psychologist and a Clinical Strategy Manager for Modern Health who brings 10+ years of expertise in promoting positive health outcomes for children and their families. Prior to joining the clinical team at Modern Health, Dr. Adusei was an Assistant Professor at Pacific University. After seeing and experiencing the difficulty of translating research findings into practices that are applicable and useful to society, Dr. Adusei strives to increase the access and dissemination of evidence-based tools for kids, parents, and families, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. She accomplishes this mission through her clinical practice, consulting, working in the digital mental health industry, and releasing podcasts like the Journey of Parenting with Modern Health!

Dr. Pardis Khosravi is a licensed Child & Adolescent Psychologist and Clinical Director at Children’s Health Council who specializes in psychological assessment and treatment of adolescents and young adults. Prior to CHC, she has worked across levels of care, assessing and treating a wide range of presenting concerns. Dr. Khosravi is passionate about the power of assessment as a tool to best understand each child’s strengths and challenges to empower the youth, their family, and their treatment team to utilize their strengths to increase resiliency and optimize academic, social and emotional functioning. As a Clinical Director, she continues to engage in clinical work while also focusing on expansion and growth of clinical programming aimed at increasing equitable access to care for all youth.

Dr. Alison (Allie) Giovanelli, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at UCSF. She completed her PhD in a joint program in Developmental and Clinical Psychology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and her clinical internship at Stanford University School of Medicine/The Children's Health Council. Dr. Giovanelli is experienced in the evaluation and treatment of a range of mental health concerns in both children and adults, and she specializes in adolescent mental health.

She is currently the lead psychologist in the Youth Outpatient Substance Use Program at UCSF, where she leads caregiver education and support groups, conducts brief targeted consultations relating to mental health and substance use, and leads a pilot study of group Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) with caregivers of adolescents with SUDs.

Dr. Giovanelli’s research primarily focuses on the opportunities and challenges of using technology for intervention in common adolescent mental health problems like depression and anxiety. She strives to disseminate her research and clinical expertise in diverse settings, including in peer-reviewed journals, directly to teens and parents, and to other providers.
